PANEL MODERATOR: AMIR EMAMIFAR, PharmD, MBA
Amir Emamifar’s career spans more than 30 years as a clinical pharmacist, academician, health system clinical pharmacy coordinator, director of pharmacy, health system vice president/chief pharmacy officer and global health executive. He has a strong collaborative leadership style and is a metric driven executive who measures performance based on achievement of deliverables. Dr. Emamifar was the Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at Temple University Healthcare System and has an appointment as Distinguished Clinical Scholar in Pharmacy at Temple University College of Pharmacy. He is currently the Senior consultant with ASHP and also serve as healthcare consultant with several startup and pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Emamifar has been responsible for pharmacy services in several health care organizations and two large academic medical centers. His experience includes inpatient services, clinical services, cancer care, clinical trials and investigational drug services, health system IT, supply chain, prescription benefit management, retail, and infusion pharmacies.

PANELIST: NILESH DESAI, MBA, BS, RPh, CPPS
Nilesh Desai is the Chief Pharmacy Officer for Baptist health System. In this role, he is responsible for the pharmacy enterprise operations across the nine-hospital system, including oversight of the system’s ambulatory pharmacies, specialty pharmacy, research pharmacy, pharmacy technology and automation, value based care pharmacy, and medication management for all the clinics.

Prior to joining Baptist Health System Nilesh spent 21 years with Hackensack University Medical Center / Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey, as administrator of pharmacy and clinical operations. Nilesh was in a leadership role for the pharmacy overseeing inpatient, outpatient meds to beds program, and retail pharmacies. He also had responsibilities over Obstetrics-Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician Faculty Practices. Nilesh was also a Program Preceptor for PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, Clinical Adjunct Professor with Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and Massachusetts School of Pharmacy.

Under Nilesh’s leadership a number of projects have been implemented successfully that includes EPIC, BCMA, NDC billing, Interoperability between EPIC and Omnicell, Beacon Oncology, Talyst carousels, Omnicell technologies, E-Prescribing, Interoperability between EPIC and Alaris IV pumps, and decentralized pharmacist teams. He also has overseen construction of USP compliant clean rooms for sterile and hazardous compounding and implemented USP 800. Nilesh also leads the effort to centralize and integrate all decision making on technology, training, educational materials, formulary standardization, medication management policies, workflows, EPIC build and standardization across the system for the pharmacy enterprise.

PANELIST: RICHARD MONTGOMERY, BSPharm, MBA
Richard is currently Adventist Health System Director of Pharmacy Contracts and Sourcing , where he has responsibility for 47 hospitals in 8 states and many non -acute healthcare settings. His prior position was system director of pharmacy for the AdventHealth Orlando campuses. Richard has been with Florida Hospital /Adventist Health for 31 years, serving in various pharmacy operations and management positions.

Richard is active at both the state and national pharmacy organizations, serving as President of the Florida Society of Health System Pharmacist in 2008-2009. He was FHSP Pharmacist of the year in 2011. Richard has also served as a Subject Matter Expert for ASHP Biosimilar Project and the Supply Cold Chain project.
